Inspired by Nature

For those who are inspired by Nature the bronze sculptures by Bodo Muche will hold special significance.

Sculptor Bodo Muche (1939 – 2017) had a life long passion for Nature and the Arts, which led him to pursue Animal Sculpture in bronze. Studies under the Masters of the Berlin Museum of Natural History included zoology, animal behaviour and anatomy, sculpture and design, modelling and casting. Years of extensive travels with scientific research and studios in the world’s wild places formed an integral part of his development as a contemporary artist.

His classic, naturalistic style of figurative sculpture was initiated by the 19th Century French school of sculptors, “Les Animaliers”, focussing on wildlife and pastoral subjects, accentuating true form and essence of the subject. Works range in size from miniature to monumental. Each is an enduring tribute to Nature. Committed to sustainable conservation, this ethic is clearly reflected in his work.

Since the foundation of Bodo Muche Studio – Foundry in 1978 by artists Bodo and Robyn Muche and moving forward with daughters Carley Muche Walker and Tania Muche, the Studio aspires to elevate the profile and appreciation of subjects with environmental and heritage themes. For example, Bodo Muche Studio’s numerous sculptures of game fish such as Marlin, Sailfish and Tuna as well as the IGFA Billfish Royal Slam celebrate ethical sport fishing achievements. Bodo Muche Studio has over many years shared partnerships with esteemed organisations such as the International Game Fish Association ( IGFA ).

Nautical sculptures of whales, dolphins, manta rays, seal lions, seals and turtles together with other marine animals also celebrate ocean life. African wildlife sculptures as well as bronzes of Australian, American, Asian and European animals and sculptures such as the Flight : Wedge Tailed Eagle and Snakebird both life size and miniature in bronze, embrace bird species of land and water. Cultural subjects are on a topic related basis such as the maquette for the life size monument to the extraordinary German Australian naturalist and explorer, Dr Ludwig Leichhardt.

Examples of fine Sporting Art relationships embraced between humankind and other animals include the Polo sculpture and portraits of Thoroughbred horses such as maquette ( miniature ) limited editions of Todman and Octagonal as well as life size monuments to both of these great race horses.  Pastoral subjects include the one and a quarter life size bronze sculpture of the Kelpie Working Dog  and Merino Ewe and Lamb. The first maquette ( miniature ) of the latter numbered edition was presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 on the occasion of the opening of the Australian Stockmans’ Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Center.

Fine art sculptures by Bodo Muche Studio are presented at special events and may be found in private, public, corporate and royal collections internationally.

Hand crafted by Bodo Muche Studio - Foundry

Wonderfully balanced lines, shapes, texture, perspectives & reflections capture the essence and create the finished work of art. Meticulously designed and modelled, each work is individually transformed from the original in clay or wax into bronze, hand crafted by the process of Lost Wax Casting.

Bronze animal sculpture is one of the great classical traditions in the history of art. Bronze is a metal which has been used since the dawn of civilisation for the creation of enduring objects. Its ability to hold fine detail and intricate shapes whilst providing warmth and depth of colour,  has made it the ideal medium to portray and capture an insight into the very nature of the subject. The finished Bronze has a virtually maintenance free surface upon which the effects of age and generations of handling will continue to enhance.
